Beginning Strings, Cello, Theory

In addition to teaching GGP’s Cadet Orchestra, Brenda Nelson is the current Chair of the Golden Gate Philharmonic’s Board of Directors, and has been a Director on the Board for many years.  As a parent of two string players, both alumni of GGP, Ms. Nelson is a beloved and essential force in the ongoing development of our young musicians. She founded and coached the first-ever GGP beginner quartet, The Voices of Spring, that remained together and performed throughout their years with GGP.  In addition to conducting our Cadet orchestra, Ms. Nelson teaches cello privately, and also teaches theory alongside Alden Jenks on Saturdays. She is always on hand during Tuesday snack time at SOTA to help all with their theory workbooks!

Ms. Nelson gives generously and tirelessly to GGP, to various students of both cello and violin, and imparts her kind spirit and warmth to all who cross her path.
